What Happens When A Power BI Dataflow Fails To Refresh

Do you know what happens when you refresh a Dataflow in Power BI Service?

First of all, there are two types of Dataflow refreshes; Full and Incremental:

In this tutorial I focus on Full Dataflow refresh. I think most report creators are going to start from there. Additionally, Incremental Refresh is a Premium only feature.

In case of a Full refresh, old data goes out and new data comes in – and the location is an Azure Data Lake Storage, managed by Microsoft.

What sort of a safeguards are available for Dataflow refresh?

When a Dataflow fails to refresh, the underlying data in the Data Lake won’t get updated – smart move, right?

It helps a lot to prevent any issues in the datasets and reports that are connected to the Dataflow.
