My name is Roland Szirmai and I will try my best to help you to master Power BI. There are already quite a few people talking about Power BI, but what I found is that most of them start from the IT side and tend to deep dive into the technical details. On the other hand, there are very few talking about what business users or non-IT folks can get out of Power BI.

In my blog and YouTube channel, you will find useful guides and videos on how to use this fantastic tool and sometimes just fun data-related stuff. It’s all about helping you – as a business user – to master Power BI and analytics – without too much IT involved.

My Background

My passion is numbers. Since a young age I was interested in numbers and statistics  (what a nerd…) and decided to study Economics. After my BSc degree I wanted to learn more about Finance so completed an MSc degree as well and started working in the field of Finance. Soon I had to realise that it was too boring and moved onto some more exciting jobs.

That’s where I started working heaps in Excel, even learnt VBA, which at the time seemed to be the holy grail. I guess I wasn’t the only one 😊 I was fortunate enough to be involved in more Business Partnering (actually working with the people whose data I was analysing) and I was able to grow to be better in my field and learn more about the needs of business users.

📢 ‼ SPOILER ALERT ‼ 📢

They don’t care about how fancy IT systems, data structures, and Excel formulas/codes you have…

As a Business/Commercial Analyst, I create reports to express the true meaning behind numbers in an understandable way for each colleague. Explaining financial/commercial/operational results to people with different backgrounds is challenging work, however by doing that I can also understand their way of thinking. As a result of understanding each other we can make progress and drive to a prospering future.
